Logic System - Venus

Hideaki Matsutake, also known under the moniker Logic System, is a synth musician/programer who is responsible for this superb synth masterpiece. Beginning his career working as an assistant under Isao Tomita (Asia's pioneering voice in electronic music IMHO) and then moving onto technical work as an unoffical 4th member throughout YMO's early career, Matsutake not only has talent but the credentials to assure any skeptic of his accomplishments in the genre. Logic System is a somewhat of a solo project for Matsutake, however much of his work is collaborated upon with other musicians, programmers and producers.

Venus, Logic's System's second LP, was released only a few short months after his debut album and is miles ahead in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, while I love the self titled debut, his distinct style mixed with an r&b/ital disco flair trumps the prog/spacey/kraftwerk-esque he began with. If you're interested in hearing not only his debut but 3rd release as well, head over to JJ's DOWN TO DA BONE!

I found this one on a now defunct blog about 3 years ago and I am really appreciative that I stumbled upon it! I'm pretty sure it's a vinyl rip but it definitely sounds great. I'm a big fan of early electro/dance music and if you're a fan of YMO, I think you'll dig this one too! Enjoy!

Katsumi Horii Project: I Believe

Here is the special album I have been waiting for and I so happy to come across this on ebay, getting it for a VERY LOW PRICE!!~

"I Believe" is the 1995 soundtrack to the NHK Drama "走らんか!". I don't know too much about the show but I can tell you this is another great album in the collectives discography.

You'll notice that several tracks are repeated, don't worry it isn't a error rather they are themes and variations (it is a soundtrack after all). While I was a tad disappointed that the tracks were a little short, there are 17 tracks providing one of the longer albums from the Katsumi Horii Project.

Special thanks to Fen, JJ, Corwyn and the others who have continued to support the page and sent me messages while I've been in and out of posting.

Enjoy!

Keiko Matsui - Collection

While I haven't had much time for the blog as I would like, I couldn't turn down the chance to post this album! Strangely enough I found it at a library in town and was very happy to do so. Keiko Matsui is a fantastic Jazz/New Age pianist who has had a long career in both Japan and the States. Some of you may be familiar her work as "Keiko Doi" in the all female fusion group, "Cosmos". I love her work with Cosmos and thats all thanks to WAX MASK posting up 4 of their albums. This post consists of a best of album featuring songs from her solo efforts in the 80s and early 90s.  I strongly urge everyone to check out both her projects, and if I am lucky, I will be able to track down more albums from her!

As a side note, I will be receiving a much sought after album within a few weeks that I am sure many of you will be interested in as well! Look out for it and I will try to get back to posting once my life decides to cut me some slack haha!

Masahiro Andoh: Arc the Lad Original Game Sound Track

Arc the Lad is a strategy RPG game that was developed for the Playstation One in 1995. It was also the first video game soundtrack to be composed by Masahiro Andoh of The Square/T-Square fame. Andoh would go on to compose a multitude of game soundtracks including  the games two sequels. These were eventually released State side in a wonderful compilation thanks to now defunt Working Designs. While I enjoy the games for what they are, they aren't personal favorites but the music for the first game is fantastic. The album featured is arranged version of the protagonists themes and orchestral arrangements of the games themes. Even if you aren't familiar with the game or play games, the soundtrack is a definitely listen for any fan of Andoh. Enjoy!

RA MU: THANKS GIVING+5 [REQUEST]

This is one of my all time favorite albums ever! This "super group" of sorts with members of fusion group PRISM and idol singer, Momoko Kikuchi, proved to be a fantastic experiment in introducing fusion and R&B to the mainstream. Although only lasting a year, the group recorded 15 amazing tracks that are on par with all the greats of the time. I discovered this album on the OLDIES BUT GOODIES site but I am reposting it with 5 extra tracks that were only available as singles. Enjoy, you won't regret!

Kenjiro Sakiya: Difference & Realism

While stumbling upon him accidentally, I've become quite fond of Sakiya's work. While I do feel it pales in comparison to other artist of a similar style and sound, there is something undeniably great about his sound. In 1985, Sakiya started work as a composer/producer and then began his own individual musical pursuits in 1987, releasing "Difference". Difference and Realism are fantastic albums and if you are a fan of Toshiki Kadomatsu, Chikuzen Satou, or the genres those gentlemen perform, please check this artist out! Sakiya continues to release his music while writing music for other artists, television and film and I'm happy to have found a handful of his early albums to share with you all. Enjoy!

Thanks to JJ!!!

I really appreciate the mentioning of this blog from JJ's page earlier today. I am new to this blog thing and was previously just an avid downloader. My response has been pretty positive so far and I hope it continues! As an incentive to the followers of the JJ's page and those who stumble upon this blog, I have put together and little random group of songs that I had ripped from videos found on the internet. They are all from live videos and of some of my favorite Japanese Jazz Fusion artists. It is nothing too special but I hope everyone enjoys!!!

The songs are in no specific order but here is a list:

1. News Station Theme by Toshiyuki Honda
2. Now or Never by Yoshihiro Naruse feat. Tak Matsumoto
3. The Woman from Marusa by Toshiyuki Honda Radio Club
4. BAGUS by Toshiyuki Honda Radio Club
5. HELLO HELLO by Toshiyuki Honda Radio Club
6. HOT CORNER by Katsumi Horii Project
7. THROUGH THE SKY by Katsumi Horii Project
8. SPAIN (Chick Corea Cover) by Toshiyuki Honda, Akira Jimbo, Tetsuo Sakurai & Ken Shima
